Boris visits Lewisham to launch Team London Star scheme

Boris Johnson visited Lewisham to launch Team London Stars. The Mayor’s Team London Star initiative is part of his Team London vision to get more people volunteering to help tackle crime, increase opportunities for young people and improve the environment.

Boris Johnson said:

“If these horrific events highlight one thing, it is that the spirit of the city and of Londoners cannot be broken. We have seen ordinary Londoners come together and do extraordinary things, from the broom-wielders of Clapham cleaning up their streets, to the Ealing shoppers helping to support their worst hit businesses. I have been overwhelmed by the spirit and generosity that epitomises all that is good about our capital. These amazing Londoners deserve our recognition and thanks.
I urge Londoners to nominate their Team London Star and show them how much their efforts mean.”

Boris went on a walk around Lewisham after launching Team London Stars, meeting local people and shopkeepers as well as speaking to the local police and PCSO’s.

Alex Wilson Conservative GLA Candidate for Greenwich & Lewisham added:

“After hearing Boris launch the Team London Stars scheme I went on a walk around Lewisham market with him, Cllr Christine Allison and the local police. We were quickly joined by lots of shoppers and local shopkeepers, who all wanted to shake Boris’s hand and also thank the Police for their recent handling of the recent events across London.”
